Easter 2005

NEWS ITEM: As his light began to go out, darkness came over the whole land. The sun hid its face and for three hours the world lay sleepless through this unnatural night as Jesus' breath grew shallower and shallower. Finally there was the sound of something ripping--a cloth, a shroud, the sky itself?--followed by a loud voice from the cross: "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." Then he let out his last breath and every creature left alive learned the meaning of silence.

Are we then to believe from this quotation that Jesus was making a significant biological observation, one overlooked by subsequent scholars? Indeed, if any one should know what the old man looks like it would surely be his first born son. "Into your hands" suggests that god has mitts of some sort, perhaps with the innate primate capacity to grasp. That's not said, nor is the number of hands alluded to so you have to wonder how incompletely referenced is the underlying anatomy of christianity.

Elsewhere(I mean a long way off from the crucifixion site at Golgotha) in the Rukminiisa-vijaya, Krishna's anatomy (and associated physiology)is clearly described: "Each of the four hands of Sri Krishna was useful individually in holding the saranga bow in war, in pulling the fine bow string, in taking up the bow from the quiver, and in yoking the arrow to the bow. Even in the secret love-sports one of His hands was useful in holding the chignon of Rukmini, two in embracing Rukmini and the other in holding Her cheek to Sri Krishna who was drinking the nectar of Her lower lips." (19.36).

So Jesus could have been referring to four hands as it would be presumptuous to assume he was only alluding to two. If 'hands' and 'arms' are interchangeable notions god could even be an octopus of some kind.

If we go by Michaelangelo assessment:

this god of Jesus didn't think it was rude to point. So the question What does god look like? is a perennial examination question that may come up on a mid term biology paper. But it is also well known that before god had hands he was want to travel terrestorially in the form of a burning bush.

" God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!"
"Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." Then he said, "I am the God of your father, The God of
Abraham, The God of Isaac and The God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God."

Were these hands chlorophyl hands and is god reliant on photosynthesis to get around?

It is most perplexing. But for my money, this could be the real face(and hands/ arms) of god:

No wonder Moses turned away.
