Results of a fibromyalgia internet survey

Results of an internet questionnaire survey will be published later this month. The questionnaire was completed by 2,569 people(but I wasn't among them). The patients who responded were mostly United States citizens, with a majority being middle-aged Caucasian females. Most had suffered from fibromyalgia symptoms for 4 years or more(I've notched up 22 years ).
The most common problems were morning stiffness, fatigue, non restorative sleep, pain, concentration, and memory. Aggravating factors included: emotional distress, weather changes, insomnia, and strenuous activity. Respondents rated the most effective management modalities as rest, heat, pain medications, antidepressants(as pain killers as well as mood elevators), and hypnotics. The most commonly used medications were: acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen, cyclobenzaprine, amitriptyline and aspirin.
